1 Year Program

The Medical Assisting program prepares high school seniors for careers and post-secondary education in healthcare through a combination of classroom instruction, hands-on laboratory training, and clinical experiences. Students develop the knowledge and skills needed to work in medical offices, clinics, and healthcare settings while preparing for the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) credential through the National Healthcareer Association and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association. The curriculum covers anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, pharmacology, medical assisting procedures, phlebotomy, EKG testing, patient care, medical office administration, insurance procedures, scheduling, documentation, and HIPAA compliance. Performance is evaluated through written assessments, practical skill demonstrations, clinical activities, professional behavior, safety, attendance, and employability skills. Students gain real-world experience through simulation labs, hands-on practice, and eligible clinical or externship opportunities in healthcare settings. Throughout the program, students develop technical expertise, communication, teamwork, professionalism, empathy, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, preparing them for employment or continued education in medical assisting, nursing, emergency medicine, radiology, healthcare administration, and other health science fields.
