Program Description

1 Year Program

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) prepares students for careers in healthcare, emergency medical services, and public safety by developing the knowledge, skills, and hands-on experience needed to provide lifesaving patient care. Students learn emergency patient assessment, Basic Life Support (BLS), Healthcare Provider CPR, trauma response, patient stabilization, and emergency preparedness through classroom instruction, crisis simulations, first aid experiences, and ambulance ride-alongs. Following College of DuPage guidelines, the program prepares eligible students to pursue the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) certification exam upon meeting program requirements. Designed for high school seniors, the EMT program provides a strong foundation for careers in EMS, firefighting, paramedicine, nursing, and other healthcare fields while building critical thinking, communication, teamwork, and professionalism in fast-paced emergency response environments.
