Program Overview

Students must be a high school senior to enroll in TCD's EMT program.

Upon completion of the course, students receive 11 credit-hours and will have the opportunity to earn NREMT Licensure upon passing the exam.
 
TCD EMT expectations include approximately 15 hours of homework and quizzes outside of class per week.
 

Recommended Qualifications

  • Minimum 2.5 GPA 
  • Earned C or higher in Algebra I, Health or Life Science
  • Ability to comprehend college-level text
  • No disciplinary issues
  • Good attendance
  • Must be motivated and able to handle a very structured environment. 
  • Must be able to follow rules, policies, procedures, and the dress code.
  • Effective verbal communication
  • Ability to perform hands-on skills and activities as well as work independently
  • IHSA Physical required within the last year along with QuantiFERON TB Gold Blood Test: Completed on 11/15/2021 or later, you are required to complete the QuantiFERON-TB Gold Blood Test. ¬ COVID 19 Full Vaccination,¬ TDAP vaccine ¬ Hepatitis B Immune Titer (blood test) ¬ Varicella Immune Titer (blood test) ¬ MMR – Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella Immune Titer (blood test) ¬ Flu Vaccine:
  • Must pass a limited criminal history background check and drug test
  • Must have transportation for clinical visits
