The Criminal Justice program prepares students for careers and post-secondary education in law enforcement, courts, corrections, and public safety through a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on learning experiences. Students explore the foundations of the criminal justice system while developing practical skills through simulations, mock trials, crime scene investigations, report writing, role-playing activities, and work-based learning. The curriculum covers criminal and juvenile law, constitutional law, policing procedures, traffic enforcement, court systems, corrections, homeland security, crime scene processing, fingerprinting, evidence collection, interviewing techniques, radio communications, and professional documentation. Performance is evaluated through written assessments, practical exercises, professional behavior, attendance, participation, and employability skills. The program offers dual credit opportunities through Introduction to Criminal Justice and Policing & Society courses while providing exposure to industry professionals from local, state, and federal agencies. Throughout the program, students develop critical thinking, communication, teamwork, problem-solving, ethical decision-making, and leadership skills, preparing them for employment or continued education in criminal justice, law enforcement, forensic science, homeland security, corrections, legal services, and related public safety fields.
